TWO million-euro lots were the star turns at Arqana's August Yearling Sale at Deauville last night after a three-parts sister to Irish Oaks winner Chicquita was bought by Coolmore and a half-brother to Group 1 winner Nahoodh was signed for by Ross Doyle.
With an extremely buoyant turnover of just over €14 million including private sales (up 50 per cent) the auction recorded the same significant increase in the average, which rose to €214,323. The clearance rate ended at just under 75 per cent, up two points from 2012.

Readily expected to be the highlight of the sale, the Galileo th ree-parts sister to Chicquita was knocked down to John Magnier after just one nod of the head at the seven-figure mark after David Redvers had started proceedings at €500,000.
"She is an extremely nice filly," MV Magnier said of the daughter of Prudenzia afterwards.
"She couldn't be born any better, and we'll bring her back to Ireland before deciding where she will go."
Consigned by Lucien Urano's Ecurie des Monceaux and owned jointly with Lady O'Reilly's Skymarc Farm, the stud had sold the daughter of Galileo's Classic-winning three-parts sister for €600,000 two years earlier, as well as her unraced year-younger sibling Sinnamary for €1.1m last August.
It took just 13 lots before the million-euro mark was hit for the first time, with Doyle purchasing Nahoodh's relative on behalf of an established client of Richard Hannon's.
Bred and raised by Ballylinch Stud, the son of Dubawi out of the Indian Ridge mare Mise was subject to a protracted bidding war between John Ferguson and Doyle in the final stages.
"With a horse like him, you have to expect that sort of price," Doyle said about the colt, who also hails from the family of Group 3-winning stayer Not Just Swing and this year's Group 1 Prix Jean Prat third San Marino Grey.
A close relative of Prix de Diane winner Stacelita will be staying in France after Nicolas de Watrigant's Mandore Agency went to €650,000 to secure the colt.
From the penultimate crop of the late Monsun, the Haras des Capucines-consigned yearling is from the German family of Baron von Ullmann's stakes winners Simoun and Silvaner.
"He is a very attractive colt who looks like will he make a nice three-year-old but will need plenty of time. The cross has worked very well in the past," said Watrigant. Like her illustrious half-sister, the colt's dam Sandy Girl was also trained by Pau-based Jean-Claude Rouget.
At the same price, the day's leading buyer Doyle (four yearlings bought for €4,234,000) struck again for a half-sister to last year's Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Zagora for the same client at €650,000 from Haras des Capucines.
By Galileo, who ended the sale as leading stallion in terms of turnover with seven progeny sold for €2,190,000, the filly comes from the family of Party Doll and Titus Livius and was, like Zagora, bred by Eric Puerari and Michel Zerolo.
Fresh from Godolphin's win with Royal Empire in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury, Ferguson had made an early start at the sale when going to €620,000 for a son of Oasis Dream.
Consigned by Haras du Mezeray, the March-born colt is the second foal out of dual German Listed-winning Kingmambo mare Mambo Light, from the Niarchos family of Chimes Of Freedom and Spinning World.
"It is very hard to breed a horse as good-looking as that, so it was no surprise we had to pay that much for him," said Ferguson, who had seen off Pascal Bary to secure the colt for Sheikh Mohammed.
A little while later, Ferguson went to €500,000 for a Monceaux-consigned daughter of Dubawi out of Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes winner Royal Highness.
The premier section of the sale concludes today with a session starting at 5pm local time.
