I agree with the last ones that HH, Caprimond etc. gave very pleasant riding horses. Most people are looking for such a horse. We are breeding Trakehners and other warmbloods and I can say I don't breed the traks to refine the other breeds but to produce nice riding horses.
In my opinion, marketing wise, the trak people could better use these HH etc to promote the breed instead of telling everybody they are no good and that people should use others. Here in Belgium the only image people have is that Traks are horses an amateur can't ride, hot tempered, too refined for their taste. If I speak to customers, dressage riders they are not looking for that type, they want a good mind and at least some substance. I sold a trakehner foal 2 years ago to french people that were looking for a Hanoverian. They were so pleased with his mind that they bought another Trak foal.
In my choice for a Trakehner stallion I first look at character and ridability, and I match them like other warmbloods, type is not a priority.
