Stallion suggestions for a Grand Ferdinand II - Gralsritter mare?

I am looking for a good match for my hanoverian mare, who hurt her leg and probably will have to have a long vacation - if not retire altogether. The mare's pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/corvette29

The mare has three offspring here in Finland:
    - 2002 out of Lancetto (Landgraf I - Caletto II), http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/herr+ferrar+cl moves very nicely, talent for jumping, short back, long neck and legs, long pasterns
    - 2003 out of Rotspon (Rubinstein I - Argentan), http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rose+chantal has a talent rather for jumping than dressage, but moves ok, quite good type and conformation all over
    - 2007 out of Carismo (Calypso II - Akzent II), http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/miss+cadillac3 moves well, nice conformation, can't say much more than that yet

Pictures of the mare and the 2007 foal can be seen at:
    http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/f...Corve/Vanhoja/
    http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/f...vi/2008-kevat/

In the foal I am essentially looking for a good conformation and good movement (and of course a "good head" - temperament, etc.) above all - it does not really matter to me very much, whether the foal will have talet for jumping or dressage.

I suspect that my mare leaves better jumping talent than talent for dressage. She herself has competed at 120cm level (at least - this much I know) but is also very well capable of collecting herself in trot (ability for passage and piaffe - she soes some, but is not trained in them) and canter (ability for pirouettes) - and does ok extensions, too.

I have considered (for example, at one time or another) the following stallions for my mare: Fidertanz (Fidermark - Ravallo), Cashman (Contender - Argentan), Centimor (Concerto II - Landgraf I), Sternkönig (Sandro Hit - Coriano), Ravallo (Raphael - Goldstein), etc.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated! (The season is still early here in Finland - we still have some snow...)

Thank you for your reply! Those are very nice stallions!

The only problem is, that they are not accepted in Finland (no-one has applied for an import license for their semen). Here is the list (still incomplete for 2008) of the accepted foreign stallions: http://www.hippos.fi/hippos/jalostus...it_rp_2007.php
And here is a list of stallions accepted in Finland in the Finnish stallion licensing: http://www.leilak.net/jalostusoriit/puoliverioriit.html (still incomplete for 2008).

It is unfortunately (= so few stallions have been "licensed", there are so many great stallions that are left out of the breeders' reach by the bureocracy) necessary for the stallion to be accepted for Finnish Warmblood breeding, otherwise it will be very expensive and need special arrangements to get the foal registered in Finland. I forgot to mention this in my first entry, sorry!

Are there any good matches for my mare in these stallions that are accepted here?

To give you any suggestion, it would be helpfull to get an idea what you are expecting to breed.
Do you want to breed for your own needs or do you want to breed for sale? How much are you willing to pay for the semen?
Your mare is pretty nice and with a very nice old hannoverian pedigree. Regarding her age she is in a pretty good shape!
            Whats her size?

Thank you very much for your answers!

My plan as a "breeder" is to get the best match between the stallion and the mare, best ability for whatever purpose the foal will be suited for, etc. My mare is perhaps what you can call an all-rounder, can do both jumping and dressage, so it is very difficult to decide which stallion to use, and which dicipline to "go after" in the foal! I think also my mare's pedigree suggest that she could match well with both dressage and jumping stallions, because Grande has left both in his offspring, and Ferdinand I think was more of a dressage stallion? I am not sure about this, please correct me if I am wrong!

However, if I look at the offspring of my mare so far (the three she has in Finland), they seem to have more ability for jumping than for dressage (even the Rotspon foal, who was bred for dressage!) - although all have (very?) good basic gaits too! So based on that, it would be better to use a jumping stallion...!?

Here are pictures (very small, the links to the larger pictures don't work now) of the two older offspring that my mare has here:

And I added a few conformation pictures on her picture site too (link in my first text). And some pictures of the 2002 gelding (by Lancetto who is by Landgraf I - Caletto II): http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/f...rve/Offspring/

I probably have to sell the foal, because I can't afford to keep them all , but I want to make a foal that I would want to keep (=a very good one - and if I have the possibility to keep the 2009 foal even for a while to see how it turns out, I will - it is not very easy to sell foals in Finland, it is easier with 3-4-year-olds, but it is very expensive to bring them up yourself, too ). I have considered Cashman for my mare - how would he go with her? I have heard that his foals are not easy and mature late (I think that goes with all Contender offspring, more or less?), but they can jump very well. Cashman is not very "in" or "hot", so I guess his offspring would be more difficult to sell? (But selling is not my first priority!) But I have a feeling that he could be a good match for my mare - but I don't know! This is always the most difficult part - selecting the stallion...

My mare is quite big, not very light (but not VERY heavy either, I think) in the frame and height around 165-170 cm (haven't measured her properly). Her offspring (the two older ones) seem to have inherited her strong (heavy?) legs, and they both are quite big also (around 170cm), which is good, of course... They both have gotten good comments about their type. I will try to get better photos of them... My mare also has a very good nature (but she can get very hot under saddle too), and she seems to pass that on to her foals also!

I do not want to use a very expensive stallion, because it was not my intention to inseminate my mare this year, so I have not prepared for the expenses as I usually do. She hurt her leg this spring (not severely, just so I can't ride her), and it looks like she will have to have a long vacation anyway, so this would therefore be a good opportunity to breed her. She is in very good shape (other than the leg), and probably there will not be any problems with breeding her - she normally becomes pregnant with the first insemination.

              Thanks again for your replies!!

Have you thought about a son of Argentinus? I could not find one in your list but Argentinus himself (which would be to expensive I guess). His offspring is known for very good movement and jumping.
To get the best chance to sell the foal it would be helpfull to use a popular stallion, wouldn't it?

Climax: You are right, it will be much easier to sell the foal, if I use a popular stallion. I will look for some sons of Argentinus - I am not familiar with them.

                    Hello to Finland

I had a look to your stallion list (Just could read the names...)

Maybe you should think about Aljano http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/aljano Holstein licensed stallion

I´ve seen very sporty and elastic foals with both talents. Ladykiller, Cor de la Bryere and Cottage Son will bring thouroughbred in a good combination in the middle of pedigree which works very good to G-Line mares

Cornet Obolensky would be nice as well. At all you maybe should look for a stallion that brings a higher thourougbred combination to your mare.

How about Daddy Cool (@ Schockemöhle)? He's accepted in Finland and I like him very much at least based on what I've seen in pictures and on video - and his pedigree is interesting also.

I think, Daddy Cool is an alternative.
If you are lucky you get good gaits AND good jumping quality.

Have you thougt about Quattro B?
He stands for many talents in dressage and jumping.
And if your mare brings in good legs, why not?
