Blue Hors Hertug Passed Away
May 25, 2009
HertugThe Danish Trakehner bred Elite stallion Blue Hors Hertug died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, May 21, 2009, at his home stable in Denmark. The 13-year old Trakehner stallion suddenly dropped to the floor in the horse walker and died almost instantly.
Hertug (by Schwadroneur x Donauwind) was bred by Arne Stuhr and was licensed for the Danish Trakehner and Warmblood society. As a breeding and dressage stallion, Hertug clearly marked Danish breeding. Not only is he until now, the only stallion which won the 4, 5 and 6-year old Danish Young Horse Championship, but his offspring, which is marked by a high rideability and a super walk, is leading the Danish Dressage Index. Hertug has 481 registered offspring.
Hertug stood at stud at Blue Hors and was trained and competed up to Intermediaire I level by Lene Jervelund and Andreas Helgstrand. In 2005, the stallion sold to Erik Vestergaard Jensen who gave the ride on the horse to his daughter Thit. She showed the stallion in the junior and young riders divisions and trained with Hasse Hoffmann. The combination won medals at the Danish Championships, Nordic Baltic Championships and European Championships.
In 2007, Hertug was proclaimed Danish Stallion of the Year. He will be greatly missed.
